We were offically discharged at 10pm on Monday March 3, 2008. We had to wait until Aurora's tests
for an infection (possibly picked up from Kathy during birth) came back negative before we could
finally go home. The next afternoon, we had a follow up visit with the pediatrician, who decided to
retest Aurora's bilirubin levels because she seemed pretty jaundiced. Unfortunately, the resutls were not good,
and Aurora was immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment. This was a very traumatic experience for Kathy,
who wanted nothing more than to spend time at home getting to know Aurora.
The treatment for jaundice involved having Aurora under blue LED lights for 24 hours. She had to wear a
paper mask to keep her eyes safe. By the end of her treatment, she was fairly adept at moving the mask around a bit,
which made Kathy worry about Aurora's eyes being damaged.
