Aurora turned 1!

This first year has flown by incredibly quickly, especially the past six months, after Kathy went back to work. Aurora is thriving in day care and it is hard to believe that she is now one of the oldest kids in "Babyland" (the nursery). She took her first steps a week before her birthday, and during March she kept practicing and improving. By the end of the month, she had no trouble wandering all over the house on her own. Despite not having any stairs at home to practice on, Aurora is also very adept at climbing (crawling) up stairs now. She even tries to walk up them by lifting up her foot! Aurora is able to communicate some of her needs and wants, by pointing and grunting, baby sign language, and a few simple words/phrases (ma maaa ma means she wants milk).

At her one year check-up in the 16th, Aurora was 30.5 inches long (75th percentile), 21 pounds 13 ounces (60th percentile), and 18.125 inches head circumference (75th percentile). Overall, Dr. Brown deemed her fit, healthy, and on track with all her developmental milestones. In other words, Kathy and Jon were relieved to find out they are doing OK as parents!
