Aurora's vocabulary continued to expand during November. She added "mama" to her words, and she
sometimes seems to be practicing her own name ("awawa"). She became a Barak supporter - she advocated for
(diaper) changes - and could be heard babbling "obama" several times a day. (Ok, so she was probably just
slurring "baba" and "mama" together but we'd like to think we have a genius child).
She continued to eat more and more solids, and her favorite foods tend to be fruits. We made fresh applesauce
using apples from our trees,
and she could not get enough of it. Aurora also likes to eat fresh bananas and can
devour most of an entire banana by herself! She stares at our food intently and is likely to get upset if
one of us is eating and she isn't.
For Thanksgiving, we spent a week in Texas. We flew down with Anthony, who was a big help with handling all our
luggage and Aurora. Jon, Kathy, and Aurora drove to Austin to spend a couple days with the Thele family before returning
to Houston to stay at Chris, Lisa, and Weston's home for the rest of the trip. We all spent Thanksgiving Day in El Campo.
November 4: Election Day! Aurora goes to vote.
November 8: Jon and Aurora check out the new cable lineup.
Aurora plays in a box. Notice how she can reach out to get the rattle she dropped.
Aurora spends a little time helping Mama rake leaves.
Here she is helping Jon pick the last of the apples.
November 14: Aurora wakes up with a fever of 104 (again). Notice how red her cheeks are! Jon takes her to the doctor, and she is
diagnosed with a double ear infection. Kathy curses the Zaleksy family's poor sinus/inner ear structure.
November 15: On weekends, Aurora enjoys taking her morning nap with Jon.
November 16: This is Aurora's new favorite sleeping position.
November 24: At JW Tumbles in Austin. Aurora, Sarah, and David all enjoy romping about.
Aurora sees something she wants to try out...and drags Jon along with her.
She loves to swing!
David also takes a turn in the swing.
A turtle pool filled with balls!
Getting ready for a short hike.
Sarah crosses a dry creek bed.
The Thele family.
Happy at the end of the walk.
All tuckered out at the end of a big day...Aurora doesn't make it through her bedtime story.
November 25: Saying good-bye to Dee, Sarah, and David is hard.
Catching up with Jenn for the first time in 10 years was nice.
November 26: Looking cute again.
That evening, we went to Lisa's mom's house for dinner. Here is a Zalesky family photo.
Aurora had a taste of her first Christmas.
It sure is hard to get a good picture with 2 babies!
November 27: Thanksgiving day was spent at Uncle Louis and Aunt Caroline's house in El Campo.
Weston shows off his Thanksgiving outfit.
After lunch, the men play dominoes.
That night, Aurora and Weston get better acquainted and Jon and Aurora play.
November 28: On the plane going home! Aurora liked looking at the lights outside the window.
