By the beginning of August, Jon was constantly bugging Kathy to take a home pregnancy test. She kept putting
it off because first he was in Europe for work, then they went on a cruise to Bermuda with the Liu's, and
then Jon was off to China. When Jon finally stopped traveling all over the globe, Kathy
finally took the test - which was instantly positive (no need to wait the requisite 3 minutes!). After a
confirmation test with Kathy's primary care physician, then there was a scamble to find an obstetrician
(thanks, Anne B!) and make the first appointment. Basically, since we had no idea WHEN we got pregnant,
Kathy got an appointment right away to get an ultrasound to judge how far along the baby already was. It
turns out we were 9 weeks along (the fetus was about 3 cm long). When Jon saw the pictures, he began
referring to the baby as his "beanie baby" since it looked like a bean to him.
