On June 14th, 2005, we bought our new home. It's the first new home for both of us and pretty exciting and nervous experience. The house is a 2-family, so we also became landlords as well, allowing for additional responsibilities to be tacked on to the experience.
Since then we've experienced all the joys of owning a home, where everything that goes wrong is our problem to fix and not the landlord's. (Actually, it is the landlord's problem, but that's us.) Here's a few of the major things that happened:
- An oak tree branch fell in our backyard during a week-long storm (before we even moved in). Not a very big one, it was only about 35-40 feet long. :)
- Our roof and chimney began to leak during a heavy rainstorm. Thankfully only leaks over the porches (as far as we know).
- Jon (and his friends) built a retaining wall in the backyard to fix a drainage issue and protect the house. Did Jon bite off more than he could chew?
You can see more pictures of our home here. We expect to put more up very soon, so feel free to check back here.
